The Daily Show
Today has been a pretty busy day for me. After a good amount of work Angela and I were able to sit down and watch some television. Like most people, we no longer watch much live television. With Verizon FiOS, we record our shows and watch them on our DVR. We hunkered down on the couch and caught up with The Daily Show.

First things first: I like The Daily Show. I like Amazon’s Jeff Bezos. I think what Amazon has been built into is phenomenal and I give Bezos mad props for shepherding as far as it has gone. However, there is one little thing that made me just a tad stunned.

Jeff Bezos laughs like he’s insane. Seriously, the guy sounds like he’s nuts. Maybe he was just giddy to be on The Daily Show but…wow. Sometimes he sounded like he was forcing his laughter and about to double over in fake laughter as he basked in the glow of Jon Stewart’s presence. In fact, his maniacal laughter conjured up mental images of Martin Landau’s portrayal of Bela Lugosi in the 1994 movie ‘Ed Wood’

PULL THE STRINGS! PULL THE STRINGS!!!!

No offense, Mr. Amazon, but I don’t think I’d let you be a clown at any children’s parties any time soon.

John McCain during Obama’s First Address to Congress
Next up we have John McCain. I wish I had a screencap of this. Angela and I were watching bits and pieces of President Obama’s speech to Congress tonight. It was what it was. The fun part came when they would show various Congressmen in the audience. When they focused on McCain he had this look of clenched teeth and anger.

This was a man saying to himself ‘Son of a fucking bitch, that could have been me. I should be up there addressing Congress.’ While Obama spoke confidently and comfortably in his role as President of the United States of America, John McCain looked like a bitter, old man. Sort of like Mr. Potter in the Frank Capra film ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’.

I just couldn’t stop laughing. And when Obama said that we have the most children who do not have high school educations in the Industrialized World I couldn’t help but burst into hysterical guffaws thinking ‘Yeah, but we’re kicking all the non-industrial nation’s asses! Take that, Guatemala! Take that, Ethiopia!’

Yet one more reason why I should stop watching television.
