They say that one of the Seven Deadly Sins is ‘Sloth’ – is the avoidance of physical or spiritual work. Yeah, yeah. Ok. It has taken me almost a week to put in another entry in this blog, so does that count?

Anyhow, I’ll admit to being a tad slothy. Perhaps that’s why I am soooooo titillated with going to hotels. Some of my bestest memories are of going on trips and spending time in a hotel room. What’s even better is going someplace where nobody knows you and getting to spend time in a hotel. That’s like getting a free pass to be a jackass and then running to your secret hideout. AND you get to pretty much leave your bed messy and leave towels in the bathroom and they come in and take care of it for you!

Some of my favorite hotel stays:

  • Immediately after my wedding. No, you morons. We didn’t do anything freaky. Angela and I got hitched and then we stayed at the hotel where we were married. Instead of doing the horizontal mambo what did we do? We did what we do best: We went shopping 🙂 And then we slept off all the booze that was in our system.
  • Hawaii. We spent a week in the hotel and had a grand old time wandering around. Everytime we came back our towels were replaced and our bed was made. That friggin’ rocked!
  • The Luxor. Room was sort of cramped but Angela and I had a boffo time ordering room service. Mmmmm…room service!
  • Hershey, PA. We spent a weekend there during the winter and spent the time trudging around in the snow. We also got to swim indoors and futz around the entire property because NOBODY WAS THERE.
  • The Westin in Columbus, OH. Whenever my friend Mike & I went to see our friend Cindy graduate from The Ohio State University we would stay there. Good times!
  • The Dolphin Inn, Va. Beach, VA. Ok, fine. Went there and got freaky. (EDIT – Got freaky there with the wife. In room hot tub!)
  • The Dogwood Inn, Radford/Dublin, VA. Ok, fine. Went there and got freaky, too (college days, pre-Angela). I’m pretty sure that the weekend spent there we probably broke some decency laws, too.
  • The Cavalier Hotel. I worked there and had plenty of great times getting run ragged. It was hard work but I think that it helped me appreciate hotel workers more.

I wholeheartedly endorse hotel stays. No cooking, no cleaning, the possibility of being ass-like with very few repercussions. Who wouldn’t want that?
