The day has finally come when we lay my dad to rest in Arlington Cemetary. It is sort of weird because I’m both happy and sad at the same time. During his viewing last month I felt awkward taking a few pictures while people wept and his casket was open.   He’ll have a few things with him: a rosary, some pins, a little bit of money and other momentos. When they finally closed his casket they sealed it and he’s been at the funeral home in Herndon, waiting for tomorrow.

What with everything swirling around me I really haven’t had the urge to write here much. I’ve sort of avoided it because it would make me sad. I haven’t even paid much attention to some of the other places I write for. However, when my dad gets to his final place I feel like we’ll all have closure.  My entire family has had this weight on their shoulders and, oddly enough, we’re looking forward to this highest of honors.

Thanks to all of you who have sent cards, emails, IMs, called me and my family. It is truly appreciated.
